To round out the year, Bill Doherty, co-founder of Braver Angels, will speak about uniting “red” and “blue” Americans in a working alliance to depolarize America.  Braver Angels, a nonpartisan nonprofit that believes Americans agree on more issues than they differ, brings citizens together to bridge the partisan divide and strengthen our democratic republic.  Braver Angel’s impact has been featured in a variety of broadcast and print media across the political spectrum.  The event will be held at the Taylors Falls Community Center and will be free of charge.  Online signup will be available in August. https://braverangels.org/

Previous Events

Organized by members of SCUUF, the initiative was launched in November 2023 with two sold-out concerts featuring the highly acclaimed singer-songwriter Ann Reed.  Main Street Voices kicked off its 2024 lineup on April 6th with an amazing panel discussion featuring students from four area schools (Unity, St. Croix Falls and Osceola) who discussed how young people view today’s environment and how it might affect and impact their futures.  Brian Collins, a science teacher at Unity High School and Wisconsin 2024 National Teacher of the year representative, moderated the filled event.

More About Main Street Voices

Main Street Voices is a volunteer initiative in the greater St. Croix Valley that combines quality entertainment and thought leaders to enrich our diverse community.  Innovative public events help bring together people from different backgrounds and walks of life that promote a vital social cohesion, building connected and informed communities, and creating a more vibrant and inclusive society.

Main Street Voices is designed to be different.  It’s not just a quality concert series or an informative speaker’s series – it’s both.  Programming aims to create a sense of unity, foster learning and provide a platform for people to express themselves.   Organizers expect this distinctive variety of ‘voices’ to engage friends of all backgrounds, including youth, from up and down the river from Wisconsin to Minnesota, where we live and work and play together.
